Tradition Matters More Than Truth To Most People

Something that has been done for a long time earns respectability. Presumption isn’t proof. An error unrefuted can be easier to believe than the original truth violated. Practices that originally were begun to honor the truth can evolve into something that justifies error or erases the truth it was intended to honor. Tradition can become a bad habit that becomes impossible to kick. Tradition can make you feel good while disobeying God or make you think you are godly when you are actually doing nothing that God desires.

Jesus refuted many practices of the pharasees that crept into to Jewish practice. The Apostles worked hard to debunk errors that appeared in the first century church. The reformers worked hard to identify traditions and errors that were unbiblical and reinstate original doctrine corrupted by the apostate Roman Catholic Church.

Today, more and more churches and Christians who are eager to grow their congregation and avoid offense, normalize sin and worldliness by redacking Biblical verses or chapters that they find unfitting within the culture they live or emotion they have developed. Thou shall not judge and thou shall tolerate replace and violate the 10 commandments. The more liberal views have walked away from the Bible, thereby denying its inspiration, inerrancy, and infallibility. Love does not trump Biblical doctrine. Love is part of Biblical doctrine. Love of God must come first. If you love God, you will obey Him.

John 14:15, 21 NKJV

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.  He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

Choir, Christmas, Easter, ecumenicalism, liturgy, and dumbing the Gospel down are all part of playing Church. Its easy to get wrapped up in the social club, while losing holiness, dishonoring God by not standing by His word and its standard. Permitting interfaith marriage, tattooing, homosexuality, coarse language, worldliness, and other forms of idolatry to be welcome in membership violates holiness.

Where are you? Do you spend more time listening to pastors and worldly people than reading God’s word and challenging unbiblical perspectives? Those who do have or will lose their saltiness and light. These are the false Christians. God never knew them and they never knew God. God the Father and Jesus His Son wasn’t tolerant of sin, idolatry, and worldliness and neither will His true Church. If the leadership and membership of your congregation refuses to condemn sin and worldliness, its time to challange them, takeover, or if necessary leave and find a Godly congregation committed to Biblical Godliness. Those who are truly saved love, fear, and obey God!

The world around us abuses alcohol and drugs and is lawless. The tv is the church of worldliness. The music teaches violent emotion, perversion,  coarse language, and vile attitudes. Government normalizes evil and undermines family values and godliness. The tares have taken over many denominations and justify some or all of this.

God gave His Word to His elect so that they could know Him. God gave His Spirit to His children so that the would honor Him. God sacrificed His son to take away their sin and their slavery to sin and replaced their fallen will with a redeemed will that makes them want to be slaves of righteousness and be the temple of God.

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Stop the rituals of men and live the relationship with God. True faith is pure. Justification takes an instant. Sanctification takes a lifetime. Glorification lasts forever.

In Christ,
