Tim Tebow, Our Christian Witness, and Homosexuality 0213

Tim Tebow, our christian witness, and homosexuality

Tim Tebow cancelled an appearance
at the First Baptist Church of Dallas, citing:

“While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ’s unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!”

Tim blinked. Standing up for Biblical truth isn’t optional. Rom 1:16-31 is a message everyone needs to know. Pretending its not there or not relevant is a lack of faith. How many people are being deceived and corrupted due to the unwillingness of so-called christian leaders who act as if they are ashamed of The Gospel. Tim, stand for Biblical truth!

One wonders what new information he received. Was it about First Baptist or something unrelated to them. If it is football related, he is letting politics to affect his Christian walk and witness. It would have been much better to have declined the invitation rather than agree only to later cancel. Now, regardless of the actual reason, the homosexual sympathetic media will re-double their effort to normalized homosexuality by marginalizing Tim Tebow as they already succeeded in marginalized most christian churches.

Case in point,
Dr Jeffress of First Baptist of Dallas said
“Hope not hate”
“Salvation not judgement”
“God’s love, grace, and of new beginnings available to all.”
“Islam and mormonism heresy from the pit of hell”

On balance, I find Dr Jeffress’ statements to be mostly biblical. These aren’t opposites, though.

Hope vs hate
Salvation by faith to peace with God to Tribulation to perseverance to character to hope.

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:1-5 NKJV)

Our hope isn’t empty. Its based on God’s promise, character, and power. However, The only persons who should have Biblical hope are the saved elect. The impenitent must repent and fear God when they don’t. The irony is that the truly saved fear God but since they are obedient by their redeemed nature, they have nothing to fear. The unredeemed don’t fear God, but they should fear Him, repent, and seek salvation, but unless God regenerates their dead spirit, they wont.

Most would find my last paragraph hateful. But, its just the opposite. Its loving. If someone was heading to hell, as all unredeemed people are, its hateful to keep this truth from them, keeping them in the dark and thereby keeping the word of God from them. Faith come by hearing the word of God!

When he says “salvation not judgement”, what does he mean? If he means that only the saved escape God’s judgement and punishment, he is biblical. On the other hand, if they won’t preach/teach/proclaim God’s judgements, they at best have become worthless and saltless, and at worst are false teachers or wolves in sheep’s clothing. You cannot expect the love of christ if you ignore the will of God. To presume that God’s love voids His will, is to do so Un-Biblically. The inverse is also true. Part of God’s love is revealed in His will that saves us from the consequences of our fallen selves!

When he says “God’s love, grace, and of new beginnings available to all.” He is being somewhat misleading. While it is true that all who call on the Lord in true repentance shall be saved, only the elect (who are regenerated) by God’s grace want to repent. So every one has the invitation, but only the elect have the ability. If God’s grace was universally provided, all would be saved, and we know that everyone hasn’t been.

When he said that
“Islam and Mormonism heresy from the pit of hell”, He wasn’t completely accurate. Every unbiblical religion or faith is accursed (gal 1:8). The elect are saved by grace through faith. It’s God’s choice and power alone that saves. Islam, Mormonism, and Roman Catholicism deny this, so it is heresy inspired by Satan. Hell is Satan’s destination. The world is currently his realm. So this heresy isn’t from the pit of hell, it is the destination for those who fall for such deception!

The problem with today’s churches is the topic of a great sermon by Paul Washer called ” 10 Indictments of the Christian Practice of Today”, a link to which is available in my list of postings. The actual church of the Bible include only those for who Jesus is their messiah. The church building and organizations of today is a carry over of the corruption of the Roman Catholic traditions that are either unbiblical or unnecessary or both. They are filled with redeemed and unredeemed. In many cases, the unredeemed have taken them over. God calls each of us to study THE BIBLE and know God’s will and obey, firsthand. The truly saved will. The impostors will be separated by God, eventually.

The world obeys the ruler of this world- Satan. I expect the lost to promote sins such as homosexuality. Conversely, I expect the followers of Christ to promote only Biblical judgements and as Martin Luther did, Stand for Biblical truth and Authority.

In response to Tim Tebow’s cancelation, Hudson Taylor ( a homosexuality advocate) was giddy.

Hudson Taylor of Athletes Ally said:

“Speak out for respect and acceptance of all people”. Respect yes. Acceptance NO!

Hudson, does this “all people” include mass murders, rapists, child molesters, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao? Should it include those in Roman 1:16-31?
Of course not.
People should be treated with respect. But, sinful behavior cannot be accepted by Godly people. Respect does not require agreement or tolerance or political correctness. People have the right to their own opinion, even if illogical or unbiblical. They have the right to their own behavior, provide it doesn’t harm others. Sin and corruption harms others. Godliness and carnality can influence others. Godliness for good; Carnality for evil. People also have the right and duty to civilly challenge each other’s beliefs. Jesus did, so can we.

If you are offended by what I said, do yourself a favor and test what I claim Biblically. Its far better to risk discord than to accept sin or lie, so that you wont risk offending someone.

Homosexuality is sinful behavior. Every person who lusts or behaves in a homosexual manner will NOT enter the kingdom of God. If they die in this condition, they will never enter heaven. Worse, if homosexuality is normalized by culture, many more will be corrupted and condemned by it. Therefore, normalizing homosexuality is evil and sinful, something the truly redeemed would not accept.

I challenge all Christians to honor the Biblical judgments of God. For the sake of those still lost in sin, we must never be ashamed of the Bible. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. The loving thing to do is the make sure the lost and redeemed hear all of it.

In God’s name,
